Message from The Timeshare Guru:  As much as I try to get out great content about a wide variety of subjects that my readers may find interesting, I simply cannot be an expert in everything.  I have been lucky enough to have readers that are engaging and offer to write interesting posts about timeshares and other travel relating topics.  I highly encourage you to reach out if you would like to have a guest post featured.

For this post, The Fit Well Traveler, has provided us with some great information on some great ideas for holiday gifts for travelers.  While this post is a bit past the "holiday" season, this general premise of these gift giving ideas are timeless.  Additionally, for all of those readers who received gift cards this holiday season, this is actually a great time to go out to use those gift cards for a lot of great presents, usually at discounted rates.

My personal favorite time to shop is just past January 1st where everything seems to go on sale at highly discounted rates.

If you did not receive what you want, want to exchange some gifts or want to add on to some gifts you have already given, this can give you some great ideas.

I hope that you find this article interesting and make sure to check out his blog -FitWellTraveler and show your support.  Thank you!

Guest Post from the Fit Well Traveler:

If you’re looking to add gift ideas for the traveler in your life to your shopping list, look no further. Here are some tips and suggestions on what to get the fearless voyager this holiday.

  1. Luggage of any kind is always useful when traveling. Whether it’s a backpack, rucksack, a traditional rolling suitcase, carry on bag, or crossbody wallet hybrid, you can’t go wrong with purchasing something to help the traveling nomad lug their stuff around.
  2. Boots, comfortable walking shoes or even shoe inserts are necessary if they tend to explore areas more on foot.
  3. For the traveling photographer, camera accessories like memory cards, cleaning gear, and carrying bags can come in handy.
  4. A smart watch is practically a wearable gps that will help them find where they are going without staring at their phone like a tourist. It can also track their steps, as well as take calls and messages.
  5. A program such as Rosetta Stone is perfect for a person who wants to become acquainted with a language in a short amount of time before they arrive.
  6. Gear Patrol defines a wifi hotspot as “a portable device that allows a number of other devices (such as laptops, smartphones, tablets) to connect wirelessly to the internet, which it does by sharing the 3G or 4G signals from your cellular provider.” It also means they will never have to endure a weak or nonexistent connection no matter where they are.
  7. Power converters or adapters are a must for making sure they can still power up their electronics whenever their plug doesn’t match the one in the country they’re in.
  8. Vacuumable seals work wonders when packing several items of clothing into a small piece of luggage.
  9. A gift certificate to a photo company is a neat idea in that they can purchase prints from their adventures to hang in their home or office as well as share with friends and family.
  10. Though on the high end of the spectrum, a gopro allows the physically active traveler to share their experiences through a unique perspective as it is an extremely durable camera that films while sitting on top of the person’s head.
  11. If they’re always traveling with a pet, gift them with necessities like poop bags, travel friendly treats and toys, a spare leash or harness, and a pop up water bowl. For dog lovers, gps navigators are useful in case their pup gets lost in a strange place. There are also pet crates for large dogs. Here’s a list of the best-rated crates you can get. According to Barkpost, dog car seats are helpful in that they keep a dog safe, secure, and away from your lap as well as their hair from spreading all over your car.
  12. A phone case that acts like a charger and actually backs up important data will not go unused.
  13. CNN recommends an in-ear translator that “offers a real-time translation feature that's like an on-hand personal interpreter.”
  14.  A scratch map can help them visualize where they’ve been by scratching off countries they’ve already traveled too.
  15. Food guides are never a bad idea as each country and region has its own unique cuisine.

Stuff their stocking with travel size cosmetics, hand sanitizer, tissues, lint rollers and umbrellas. Compression socks, a neck pillow and sunglasses also always make travel days easier, and when in doubt an airline gift certificate will allow them to go anywhere they want.
